WORLD’S FIRST OPEN SURGERY ORTHOPEDIC TRAINING SIMULATOR PARTNERSHIP TOUR IN THE NEW ENGLAND AREA

Montreal (Quebec) Canada, November 2, 2015:

OSSim Technologies, a Canadian-based company, has developed a novel virtual reality (VR) training simulator, the Sim-K™, for orthopedic open surgeries more specifically addressing the total knee replacement (TKR) procedure. The simulator will be promoted in the New England area, in particular the greater Boston area, during the week of the 9th of November 2015. This tour is jointly organized with the “Québec Medtech Showcase” to present outstanding start-ups in the Orthopedics & Rehabilitation space in presence of Premier of Québec, Mr. Philippe Couillard.

«The New England region represents a major hub for medical technologies and research in healthcare, » said Mr. André Blain, President of OSSim Technologies. «The numerous institutions in education, research and care as well as the overwhelming presence of leading physicians and surgeons in orthopedics represent an ocean of potential partnerships for our company. We seek to collaborate and partner with local actors to establish a presence in the healthcare ecosystem of Boston. We are convince our open surgery VR training simulator will generate strong interest for orthopedists interested in education, training and simulation» he added.

«The Sim-K™ is the first simulator to mimic open knee surgery whilst already commercialized simulators mostly address minimally invasive surgery. There is no doubt that every orthopedic simulation training center or teaching hospital would be interested in adding this new simulator to their training facility, » said Mr. Blain.

The simulator Sim-K TM was developed in close collaboration with a very skilled team of surgeons from the CHUM hospital and Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital in Montreal, involving Dr. Veronique Godbout MD, FRCSC, MA med. Ed., Dip. Sport Med., Dr. Marc Isler MD, FRCSC, and Dr. Vincent Masse MD, FRCSC, all professors in the Orthopedic Surgery Program of University of Montreal.

Anyone concerned and/or involved in education particularly through Simulation training is welcome to meet and discuss with our President Andre Blain while he will be touring the New England area on the week of November 9.
